Description

Giant super-mega-death-sheepie that I made. D=

Name: Ulyac (Ool-yak)
Population: They’re rather common as they are a rather versatile species, and can be rather adaptive.
Lifespan: Usually no more than twenty years, though their lifespan is often shorter if they are kept in captivity.
Habitat: Their fur allows great insulation in colder temperatures and adequate cooling in warmer temperatures, and as such they can do well generally anywhere. However, they tend to prefer forested areas that have a steady supply of food, or even mountainous areas. Wild Ulyac are never found in deserts, but domesticated Ulyac can live there if cared for.
Diet: Ulyacs are mostly herbivores, and prefer to consume anything from grass and leaves to fruits. Though, if this is not available, they can and will live on insects. Domesticated Ulyac will happily live on livestock feed as well.
Height: Males can be anywhere from 6-7 feet on all fours, but they usually never grow larger than 6’5’’. Females are smaller and can be anywhere from 3-5 feet, though the largest female did reach 6 feet.
Weight: Male Ulyac can weigh between 1800-2400 pounds, while females range between 1600-1900 pounds. Newborns can weigh 110-180 pounds at birth.
Description: Ulyac in the wild: Ulyac may look like fierce and imposing beasts; but in reality they are rather gentle and curious, and peaceful; prone more to run away unless cornered, or if a mate or baby is in distress, and are actually more of a danger to each other than to any other creature. In the wild, an Ulyac will either live a solitary life or spend it with a mate and it’s young, and while most of the time the creatures will often separate after caring for a newborn into adulthood, it is not unknown for a pair to mate for life. Herds of Ulyac are mostly unheard of, as these creatures tend to be very aggressive and territorial towards each other, unless they’re of the opposite gender, though in areas where food and space is more plentiful it is not wholly unknown for very small families to form and stick together.

Ulyac in captivity: Large groups of Ulyac can be rather difficult to keep, as they are prone to fight each other unless they are of the opposite gender. This can be prevented by giving each creature their own separate pen, as they can be penned NEXT to each other without too much worry, but an easier way to remedy this is to raise a bunch of young newborns together in a group, away from the influences of the wilder parents, as even into adulthood these newborns will then be able to live peacefully in groups. In captivity, female Ulyac are better suited for meat production and the production of their fine silky coats, as the female has more desirable soft meat than the toughened muscle of the male, though males can be used to have their coats harvested as well; Male Ulyac make for better mounts and hard labor. Regardless of gender, if one should befriend an Ulyac, the handler then has an intensely loyal, loving, and devoted friend until either’s death.

Extras:
- Ulyac can stand upright on their hind legs in order to reach leaves and fruit at greater heights, but due to their large size and heavy weight, they can only do this for a very short while.
- Though their shaggy hair covers their eyes, it doesn’t hinder their sight and their distinct pupil allows them to see a full 360 degree peripheral vision.
- They can’t open their mouths fully, and instead rely on a long, 18-20 inch tongue to reach out and snag their desired food into their mouths for chewing.
- Ulyac have a distinct earthy smell to them, and if caught in a rainstorm they tend to temporarily smell of the rain.
